After the first round, the competition officer went to Purola and asked if the athlete of the Oulu Pyrinna wanted to visit his own departure from the tape. According to the devices, the reaction time was a few thousandths too fast.
After the inspection, Purola continued to arrive in front of the media, as a matter of course, whether he could run in the finals.
– I said I know that it was against the rules, but I asked if anything could be done.
At the start of the final, Purola was found at the starting line. The result was a new record of 10.27.

In practice, therefore, the rules of the competition were broken – or at least stretched. Purola was able to run in the finals, even though there was a startling start in the first round. Purola himself is also well aware of the rules of the competition.
– It was a fraud start, but they gave a new chance when it was so small.
Purola stated that the dramatic stages of his first round had also influenced the final run.
– The whole body and the mind got mixed up. The legs went loose when it came to panic. Yes, that affects the whole nervous system, the 25-year-old runner comments.
