Where is John?
This is a downer for his regular copywriter John Ewbank, because he has not had anything to write for Marco for years now. “It raises the question of whether John has been dragged along financially in Marco’s downfall,” the weekly said Party.
“John disappeared silently from the stage after the accusations against the singer and has been staying in Ibiza with his partner Kelly Weekers for several years. Since then, we have heard little from Ewbank. Yet he has not been idle in recent years. He has started to focus on other matters, such as buying up music rights.”
Millions of euros
It concerns a variety of rights, according to Party. “Before his death, Willem van Kooten sold his entire catalog to John Ewbank’s investment fund, which included hits from Golden Earring, Shocking Blue and BZN. How much was paid for this has never been disclosed.”
What do the numbers say? “The most important company for John Ewbank is Pythagoras Music Fund Holding BV. In 2023, the equity of this company, to which Van Kooten sold his music rights, amounted to no less than 59.1 million euros, while a year earlier it was 47.1 million euros.”
No response
John has changed his course in time, Party believes. “And that certainly didn’t do him any harm. He doesn’t seem to have really been dragged into the fall of Marco Borsato. He may have suffered some financial damage, but by tapping into other sources of income, that seems to have been canceled out.”
What does he think of the whole Marco Borsato case? “The party has asked John Ewbank for a response, but he still does not want to respond. John has been taking this position since the moment Marco was accused.”
