What do you think: Farmers should protest with dignity so as not to lose goodwill

Thousands of farmers in Stroe are protesting against the cabinet’s nitrogen and nature plans today. They believe that farmers are being hit disproportionately hard and call the nitrogen plans “unachievable, impracticable, unnecessary and undesirable”. Farmers from all over the country go on their tractors to the village in the Gelderse Vallei.

Action group Farmers Defense Force (FDF) has called on its own supporters to behave well, to follow directions from the authorities and not to use tractors on the highway. But not everyone seems to like that.

In Zeeland last night a group of farmers was stopped when they drove tractors on the A58. Seventy tractors and trucks also entered the A2 in Limburg. And Groningen farmers have announced that they will also drive a part over the A28.

And last Saturday, Farmers Defense Force leader Mark van den Oever reported in the Volkskrant that farmers want to block highways and Schiphol.

Do you think that farmers should be allowed to drive on highways during their protest and possibly set up blockades? Or do you think they cut their own fingers and lose goodwill.
