Wevelgem: police seize private planes people smugglers

Victims had to pay up to 20,000 euros for false papers and a flight from Turkey.

The court found the two planes after a large-scale international investigation into people smuggling, in collaboration with Europol and police forces from several European countries.

Five suspects arrested

The criminal organization, which smuggled people from Turkey here, has meanwhile been rounded up. Two suspects were arrested in our country yesterday, three more suspects in Italy and France.

Police also seized large sums of money and devices used to create false documents. The two planes are sealed and remain on the ground.
