The total absenteeism (Absence at work due to illness, ed.) in the province is 8.9 percent, which is lower than the national average of 10.3 percent. More than 10 percent of all working days in the private sector is therefore lost due to illness. That is again an increase compared to 2023.
“The greater the organization, the greater the risk. In six years we see the total absence in the private sector rising from 8.4 percent to 10.3 percent. The cost is considerable. It concerns millions of lost working days and that is to the disadvantage of the individual employee, the employer and the entire society, “concludes Katleen Jacobs of SD Worx.
