Wesley Koolhof with difficulty to third round doubles US Open | Sport

Wesley Koolhof has reached the third round of the men’s doubles at the US Open with some effort. The best doubles player in the Netherlands, together with his British partner Neal Skupski, was too strong for the Americans Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow with 6-3 6-7 (5) 6-4.

It was even in the third set, but at 5-4 Koolhof and Skupski used their second game point as the Americans hit a double error.

Koolhof and Skupski are placed second in New York. They will face Australians Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in the third round, who won Wimbledon this summer. The Koolhof/Skupski duo have already won six titles this season and are considered title contenders. The 33-year-old Koolhof, already certain of participating in the ATP Finals, is the number 4 in the world.

Demi Schuurs

Demi Schuurs secured a place in the third round of the women’s doubles with difficulty. Together with her doubles partner Desirae Krawczyk from the United States, she defeated Japan’s Miyu Kato and Indonesia’s Aldila Sutjiadi 5-7 6-1 7-6 (3).

Schuurs and Krawczyk, who gave up a 5-2 lead in the third set, are placed sixth in New York.
