Wesley Koolhof reaches US Open double final at the expense of Jean-Julien Rojer | US Open

Koolhof and Skupski use their fifth match point in the Louis Armstrong stadium. They will face Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in the final. The American/British duo has been placed first in the last grand slam tournament of the year.

Koolhof (33) also reached the final in New York two years ago, then with the Croatian Nikola Mektic at his side. They lost the final battle in two sets. The Dutchman forms a successful duo with Skupski this year. They have already won six tournaments and have secured their place in the ATP Finals in Turin.

,,We’ve been playing well all season and just keep doing what we do,” said Koolhof. “Everything is working out well for us so far.” The Dutchman and his British doubles partner also played their match in the quarterfinals in Louis Armstrong, the largest track in New York after Arthur Ashe Stadium. Koolhof: ,,We can ask if we can also play the final here. We know Rajeev and Joe well, we often train with them and also share a coach. It will be fun in the final.”

The 41-year-old Rojer won the US Open in 2017 with the Romanian Horia Tecau, after they had already won the double title at Wimbledon two years earlier. The native Antillean, who has been playing for the Netherlands for years, won his third grand slam title this year with Arévalo at Roland Garros.
