National soccer player Timo Werner is in the starting XI for his comeback in the RB Leipzig jersey.
Coach Domenico Tedesco called up the 26-year-old in attack for the Bundesliga home game against 1. FC Köln on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) together with “Footballer of the Year” Christopher Nkunku.
Last Tuesday, Leipzig made Werner’s move from Chelsea public. A day later he had completed his first training session.
Werner had already played for the Saxons from 2016 to 2020 and has scored 95 goals in 159 competitive games so far. In two mixed years in London, Werner won the Champions League in 2021, but played far too little in the past season.
In Leipzig, where he signed a contract until 2026, the attacker wants to recommend himself in the short term, especially for the World Cup in Qatar (November 20th to December 18th).
