After the trophy out, Werder Bremen received the next defeat in the Bundesliga. Mainz collected Big Points in the fight for the premier class. Bochum lost in the basement.

SV Werder Bremen simply no longer finds on the track. After the trophy out of third division Arminia Bielefeld during week, the North Germans also lost their home game against VfL Wolfsburg 1-2 (0: 1). Patrick Wimmer shocked the Bremen in both rounds with an early goal (6th and 48th minute). Mitchell Weiser was still able to shorten (90th). But it was not enough. Werder has been winning for five competitive games.

Meanwhile, Mainz 05 was able to score three important points in the fight for the Champions League places. Despite an early deficit, the Rheinhessen prevailed 2: 1 (0: 1) at RB Leipzig. Xavi Simons had put the home team in the lead (2nd). Mainz bent the game completely deserved by hits from Nadiem Amiri (52nd) and Jonathan Burkardt (58th).

VfL Bochum had to accept a bitter setback in the relegation battle. After three games without defeat, the eleven of coach Dieter Hecking in the basement duel against TSG Hoffenheim pulled 0: 1 (0-0). Tom Bischof, who will appear for FC Bayern from summer, shot the Kraichgauer for the away win (72nd).

Borussia Mönchengladbach did not show any nakedness at his guest appearance in Heidenheim. The “foals” were able to drive in a sovereign 3-0 win (2-0). Robin Hack, who scored two goals (8th/59th), was the man of the game. Nathan Ngoumou also steered a goal (18th).

First a blocked side puller of Wolfsburg’s Mohammed Amoura, then a first thrilling counterattack on Werder Oliver Burke – it went straight to the matter in front of the initially optimistic Bremen audience, which then quickly had to process the first damper. After a corner, goalkeeper Zetterer was missing the determination when running out and the Austrian Wimmer brought the ball over the line with his back.

André Silva in particular worked to equalize after a short shock phase. RB Leipzig’s loan player only hit the outer post (19th) by left shot, then he checked Müller by head (21st). Eight minutes later, Jens Stage also failed free -standing on the multi -great -reacting goalkeeper of the guests. The equalization until the break would have been clearly earned.

However, Wolfsburg also turned out to be more efficient before the change, before Weiser finally scored into the goal, had the guests under control against increasingly unnerving Bremen.

Leipzig dominated the events on the pitch, but Mainz recovered from the early shock object by Xavi and gradually worked into the game. However, the guests did not really get really dangerous, but Leipzig also took the pace out a bit after the furious initial phase, and a game developed at eye level.

The Mainz pushed for the equalization, the best chance offered Jae-Sung Lee shortly before the end of the first half, who set the header over the goal (43.). Leipzig has now increasingly acted more passively and more uncomfortable. That was punished immediately after the break. Paul Nebel initially failed due to RB keeper Péter Gulácsi (51.).
