The striker scored 15 goals last season – but his club was still relegated. Now he should move to the Weser.
Werder Bremen is about to sign Cedric Itten. The 29-year-old Swiss striker is set to move to the Weser from second division relegated Fortuna Düsseldorf on a free transfer, as the “Deichstube” reports. Both sides are said to have already reached an oral agreement.
The move is expected to be completed during the current World Cup, where Itten is currently on duty with the Swiss national team. In Düsseldorf he scored 15 goals last season, but he was unable to prevent the Rhinelanders from being relegated to the 3rd league. Since his contract with Fortuna is not valid for the 3rd league, Itten would be available for free.
He already has a common past with Werder coach Daniel Thioune: After Itten moved from Young Boys Bern to Düsseldorf in the summer of 2024, both worked together until Thioune was released as Fortuna coach in October.
