Oliver Burke already seemed to have failed at Werder Bremen, was considered a secure sales candidate last year. But the Scottish attacker bit through the Bundesliga club, at least as a substitute comes to significantly more minutes of use than in the years.
To date, the 27-year-old played 14 season games in the German football Oberhaus for Werder Bremen, scored against Holstein Kiel (2-1) and RB Leipzig (2: 4) each.
It will no longer be enough for the center forward behind Marvin Ducksch, Justin Njinmah and the currently injured biscuit top. But Oliver Burke has made a virtue out of necessity and now fully identifies himself with his joker role on the Weser.
“I have been happy to accept this role here and it is going really well. With the skills and qualities I have, it is good at the moment to give a game from the bank again,” said the offensive man before the Bremer guest appearance at FC Bayern (0: 3) in conversation with the “tz”.
Burke enjoys the time in the field
The Scotsman continues: “If you have a good feeling, everything else is going much easier. At the moment it fits me very well. The teammates know that I can help them well in certain situations.”
Burke experienced great affection from the traditional club for his staying power after two loan stations at FC Millwall and Birmingham City in the second English league at Werder Bremen. For example, he is now considered one of the crowd favorites in the team of head coach Ole Werner, substances in the Weser Stadium have recently been cheered loudly.
“The Bremen fans and I go together. It is an indescribable feeling to feel this support. You notice that I try to return all of this in the field. I enjoy it very, at any moment on the field,” said Burke in addition. His contract expires according to the current status after the current season.
