According to a Croatian media report, Werder Bremen have secured the services of Adriano Jagusic from Slaven Belupo Koprivnica. According to the “Dalmantinski” portal, the Green-Whites are paying 4 million euros to the Croatian first division club for the 20-year-old midfielder. However, the report from the source, who is relatively unknown in Germany, is denied by other media in Croatia and the transfer is also rather unlikely given Bremen’s financial situation. Although a solution has now been found for Naby Keïta.
The Croatian media “tportal” has denied the report about the agreement between Werder and Slaven Belupo Koprivnica. Accordingly, it can be heard from the player’s environment that there is no change imminent and that he will also play for the Croatian club in the spring. Before the Hanseatic League presented the long-awaited striker, Jovan Milosevic, who is coming on loan from VfB Stuttgart, “Bild” reported that the North Germans had 2.5 million euros available for transfers and salaries for new players in the winter. The fact that 4 million euros will flow to Croatia for Jagusic in January is therefore considered rather unlikely.
Nevertheless, Jagusic could be an exciting target for the summer, as a departure of Romano Schmid, who would be entering the last year of his contract, is considered likely. Like the Austrian, Jagusic is also at home in the attacking midfield and is the fourth-placed team’s best scorer with six goals and six assists in 18 league games. In the latest market value update, the Croatian U21 international climbed from 1.8 million to 4 million euros. In the TM rumor mill, he is being traded to various clubs from top European leagues, and Olympique Marseille is also interested.
Werder flop Keïta before a permanent move to Ferencvaros
There will also be movement on the Weser on the outbound side shortly. According to a “Bild” report, Naby Keïta is about to say goodbye for good. The 30-year-old midfielder will be drawn to Ferencváros, where he spent the past year on loan. The Hungarians did not make use of the purchase option for the former Liverpool player, although he showed some good performances and was involved in five goals in 28 games. Werder will now let Keïta leave on a free transfer. This means the club saves half an annual salary, which should be around 1.5 million euros.
Keïta came from Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 as a major transfer coup, but due to injuries he only wore the Werder jersey for 107 minutes across five appearances. In April 2024, the tablecloth between the club and the 58-time Guineas international player was finally cut after he refused the bus ride to the away game in Leverkusen. The then coach Ole Werner had previously informed him that he was not in the starting line-up.
Werder signs US talent Hamouda
Werder has signed US talent Ramiz Hamouda from Birmingham Legion FC for the coming season. The 17-year-old central defender is supposed to strengthen the Hanseatic League’s U23 team. “We have been monitoring Ramiz’s development for some time now. He was last in Bremen again in November, trained with our teams in the performance center and confirmed our impression of him. Ramiz is an exciting player who we see primarily in central defense. But he can also play on the far left in the back four. He is planned for the U23, where he will first arrive after his move from the USA. We are pleased that we can continue his positive path together in Bremen,” said Clemens Fritz.
