Third success in a row in the classic on the Lauberhorn for the Swiss, with Von Allmen and Hrobat on the podium
Another step into the legend for Marco Odermatt. On the legendary Lauberhorn in Wengen the Swiss achieved his third success in a row, after the two last season: no one had ever succeeded in the history of the World Cup. In 2’22″58 in the complete version of the longest descent of the Cup, Odermatt left Franjo Von Allmen, surprise winner of yesterday’s super-G, at 38 hundredths, and Slovenian Miha Hrobat takes the podium, at 57/100, already third in Beaver Creek.

Fourth place for Dominik Paris (at 69/100), who after the good sensations in super-G confirms his progress: “Today the sensations were finally good – he says satisfied at the finish line -, I still had a few passes that were a bit like this, but I felt finally the right sensations under my feet. I gained 7 tenths, but on such a long track they are nothing.” Paris reached its highest speed: 154.99 kilometers per hour.
Florian Schieder is back in the top 10, tenth at 1″37, while Mattia Casse finished at 1″73. Innerhofer far away (at 3″55). Molteni, Alliod, Franzoni and Bernardi still have to start.

Bad fall for the veteran Kriechmayr, who went out at full speed towards the end. The Austrian got up on his own and went down to the finish line with only his left ski on his foot, but visibly limping on his right leg. The Frenchman Giezendanner also ended up in the nets and taken to hospital by helicopter.

Switzerland

The downhill continues to be in the hands of Switzerland: it is the fifth success for the Swiss in the last 6 downhills: last year Hitnermann in Kvitfjell, then this season Murisier in Beaver Creek, Murisier in Val Gardena and today, Monney in Bormio. Switzerland also dominates the downhill ranking, with Odermatt (325 points) ahead of Von Allmen, and with 3 athletes in the top 4 places in the general: Odermatt (866), Meillard (482) and Von Allmen (391). The Norwegian Kristoffersen holds on in second place (574).
Tomorrow the long weekend in Wengen ends with the slalom.
