Wendy van Dijk is going into the new TV season quite battered. In the middle of the summer she is mercilessly humiliated by her great television rival Chantal Janzen.
It is really bad for Wendy van Dijk: the brand new season of her Ik Hou Van Holland copy Wie Kent Nederland currently attracts hardly any viewers to SBS 6. After 390 and 346 thousand viewers, the third episode managed to reach an audience of 234 thousand viewers last night ( 7.5 percent market share). That is very little, even in summer weather.
Not a nice Sunday
Wendy has been beaten for three weeks in a row by repeats (!) of Oh Wat Een Jaar with Chantal Janzen, but yesterday the difference was already painful. Chantal’s repeat scored 486 thousand viewers (15 percent) on RTL 4 and was therefore more than twice as popular as the brand new episode of Wendy’s show.
Viewership prophet Tina Nijkamp thinks it’s very sad for Wendy. “It’s not a nice Sunday for Wendy,” she writes. “These are the same numbers as Sander Lantinga’s quiz, Vier Is Te Veel. That disappeared from the tube after 233,000 viewers.”
Chantal-Wendy War
Chantal will laugh in her hand because she and Wendy can’t stand each other. They played the lead role in a very fake media revolt about three years ago. Wendy started liking all hate messages about Chantal on Twitter on an ordinary Saturday evening at the end of 2019.
Wendy probably didn’t have the faintest idea that other people could watch as she indulged her alleged hatred for Chantal, because it was not nice what she liked. “Gosh, what happened to #chantaljanzen’s face? Failed facelift, those cheeks so high and botox? A shame!” she liked, among other things.
Third person
Wendy came up with all sorts of crazy excuses; for example, there would be a ‘third person’ who had used her Twitter account. Talpa went to do research, but that was immediately covered up. She may have been drunk, it was suggested. Later Chantal hit back hard at Wendy. Not chic, Linda de Mol thought. Laughing, thought bystanders.
Now Wendy and her imaginary third person are played hard home by Chantal. The other most watched prime-time titles yesterday were NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur (421 thousand), NPO 3’s Beck (417 thousand) and NPO 1’s Theo Maassen: Situatie Changed (381 thousand).
Viewing figures
Programs that did not make the top 15 include Grantchester (353 thousand), Hart van Nederland (323 thousand) and Shownieuws (290 thousand).
