Every year, around 85,000 metal fans from all over the world flock to Schleswig-Holstein to the legendary Wacken Open Air. Anyone who knows the festival site knows: the mixture of northern German weather, camping adventure and the music marathon not only demands stability but also some preparation. Packing list for Wacken Open Air: The most important documents and essentials
You should pack these things first – preferably well protected in a waterproof bag:
- Festival ticket (digital or printed)
- ID card or passport
- Health insurance card
- EC/credit card (paid on the site via the cashless system)
- Cell phone and power bank
- Download the Wacken app for running order, off-road plan and weather information
Weatherproof rock in the infield
The legendary Wacken sludge is not an urban legend. Therefore: dress functionally.
- Rain poncho or waterproof jacket
- Hearing protection (not negotiable – thank you your ears later)
- Sunscreen with high sun protection factor – even in cloudy weather
- Folded bottle or drinking system (water points are available on the site)
- Headgear (cap, fishing hat or bandana)
- Fixed, already run -in footwear
Pack for the Wacken Camp
If you camp, you should secure as much comfort as possible with as little effort as possible. Our recommendations:
- Waterproof tent + herring + rubber hammer
- Sleeping bag and isolate or field bed
- Pavilion, folding chair and camping table
- Flashlight / headlamp / lantern
- filled water canister
- Panzer tape, cable tie, multitool
- Camping cooker + cutlery + enamel plate
- Garbage bags – for you and the environment
Clothing and hygiene
The Wacken Open Air is not a catwalk, but if you want to feel good for five days, you should pack cleverly:
- Sufficient warm, airy and weatherproof clothing to change
- Comfortable clothing for sleeping
- Rubber boots and shower sandals
Hygiene kit with:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Soap / shampoo / shower gel
- Deodorant
- Toilet paper / wet wipes
- Period products
- Medicines (including pain relievers, allergy pills)
Our tip: Anyone who showered early in the morning saves long waiting times.
Packing list for Wacken Open Air: Eating and drinking
There is a satisfactory culinary offer on the premises, but a foundation of supplies at the campground can still be worth gold:
- Water and soft drinks
- Beer and non -alcoholic alternatives
- Long -lasting snacks: cereal bar, cracker, canned bread, cookies
- Durable hearty thing: canned ravioli, dumplings, constant sausage, vegan snack sausages, grilled food
- Saucen, dips and salads without milk and egg when no cooling is possible
- Coffee / instant coffee + camping stove
If you can operate a cool box with electricity from the car or camper, things can of course also be kept too cool.
Entertainment and community spirit
Outside the stage, you create a mood – and with these things for variety:
- Card games or cubes
- Bluetooth loudspeakers (please use it with considerate-not everyone wants to be sounded with Motörhead at night)
- Air mattress or flunkyball equipment
- Costume or special outfit for motto days
- Reading material or magazines for quiet moments
- Guitar or other acoustic instruments
What you do better at home or leave
Weapons -like objects and pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited.
The same applies:
- Glass of any kind (due to the high risk of injury and fire)
- House or wild animals
- Open fire without permission
- Stromaggregates over two kW and more than five liters of fuel in additional tanks
Private tractors have repeatedly caused high damage to property on the W: O: A, so their use is also no longer allowed. Vehicles from 7.5 tons must register with the organizers in advance.
Sustainable festival visit
Wacken lives from his community. Therefore, help that the “Holy Ground” remains a magical place in 2026:
- Take your garbage with you or separate it properly
- Leave your camp as you want to find it
- Respects neighbors, nature and crew
