Well-known Gooi postman Daan (80) receives a well-deserved ribbon: “I love it”

Daan Kikkert (80) has been a familiar face in Blaricum, Laren and Huizen for sixty years. The postman is much loved and was showered with gifts two months ago when he celebrated his anniversary. Today came the greatest gift of all: a royal decoration. A special day for Daan and his family.

”I think it’s great and I’ve actually always been looking forward to this moment,” says Daan Kikkert himself about getting a ribbon.

That Daan would receive a ribbon was the biggest dream of his wife who passed away exactly one year ago today. This makes the day extra special. “It is extra special because my mother really wanted this. The fact that it has now succeeded makes me so very proud of him”, says daughter Andrea Kikkert about her father.

Anniversary

Last February we spoke to Daan about his sixtieth anniversary as a postman. Daughter Andrea eventually called for cards to be sent in, after which Daan received cards from all over the world.

I didn’t have many cards, just almost three thousand,” jokes Daan. When asked whether he now expects as many cards as he did then, he says: “The first ones have already arrived!”
