Lisa Marie Schweizer from AV 03 Speyer just missed out on the title in the Olympic duel at the 100th European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana and secured three medals.

The 26-year-old aspiring police officer weighed 223 kilograms in the class up to 71 kilograms and had to admit defeat to Swede Patricia Strenius by only one kilogram in the final count.

For the athlete, who was born in Schwedt in Brandenburg, it was the greatest international success. Last year she was fourth at the European Championships in Moscow in the 64-kilo category with 218 kilos in a duel.

The Olympic tenth in Tokyo secured the European title in the snatch sub-discipline in Tirana with 103 kilograms. She managed 120 kilos in the clean and jerk and came in third.

She equaled the German records she held. For a long time she was on course for gold in a duel, but was intercepted by Strenius in the last attempt. The Swede lifted 130 kilograms into the air and passed the German.
