We started the week with the flu wave. According to the RIVM we can speak of an epidemic, 76 people visited the doctor with flu complaints per 100,000 Dutch people. They also notice that in hospitals, but there is no need yet. “We can still coordinate it internally,” said a spokesperson for the Wilhelmina Hospital in Assen.

Valthermond was startled by an explosion at the beginning of this week. A 34-year-old man from the village died in the explosion and the subsequent fire. A 35-year-old man from Emmen was also present in the house. He was injured and was arrested. His exact involvement is being investigated.

At the RIVM and several political parties there are worries about goat farms. Local residents of the goat stables have a greater chance of lung disease. Agricultural Minister Wiersema first wants to await the advice of the Health Council before he proceeds to measures.

PVV minister Madlener of Infrastructure and Water Management believes that Eelde Airport can remain open for longer. That would mean that more aircraft can take off and land at the Drenthe airport. The choice is not yet final, but director Meiltje de Groot is already enthusiastic. The Association does not share that enthusiasm for the Eelde Airport (VOLE). They compete and will submit views.

The first cycling race of the year is coming. On March 1, amateur cycling Netherlands will come to Drenthe to cycle the first edition of the Dorpenomloop through Drenthe. The organization of this new course had quite a few feet in the earth. For example, the cyclists have to do without police supervision and 250 traffic controllers had to be called.
