The high price of coffee speaks to Finns, but there are also cheaper options on the store shelf. The experts tasted three of them.
No wonder the ever -rising price of coffee speaks to Finns. After all, we are a coffee folk that rarely does not drink morning or day coffee, some require evening coffee.
As you look at the coffee shelves of the shop, there is also some cheaper brick from the more expensive packages. But what kind of coffee is made from a coffee package less than three euros? Two coffee experts tasted cheap coffee.
One of the founders of the Helsinki Coffee Festival Maija Kestilä and a café tone entrepreneur, Matias Merikukka Tasted cheap coffee from Lidl, Kesko and S Group.
Coffee experts buy coffee in their home as beans and grind the beans themselves, but they have no foreign gas station coffee supply.
They emphasize that the gas station’s coffee is not bad at all, even though they still come across coins placed on the disc. The coffee that has been standing in a long pan does not taste good, even if there are more coins on the disc.
– I don’t remember when I would have bought a Market brick coffee package. The aromas remain much better in beans, says Merikukka.

There are coffee roasters all over Finland, where Kestilä and Merikukka encourage people to shop.
Test coffee is cooked with a regular coffee maker. Coffee reindeer have been weighed and the water is accurately measured. There are 30 grams of coffee and half a liter of water. Kestilä and Merikukka say they always weigh both coffee and water. In addition, they rinse the filter bag with boiling water, but Kestilä says that even more lighter water is running. The rinsing prevents the coffee from the filter bag extra flavors.
Coffee tasting uses a tasting spoon to make the coffee properly rumble and rumble to open its flavors in the mouth.
The coffee can cool for a moment in the cup, as it is too hot after cooking to make the flavors properly appear. Kestilä says that he may drink a few holes in his coffee and leave it to cool for a longer period of time. Line or cold coffee also tastes good.
According to experts, good coffee is recognized by the fact that its taste continues for a long time, there are many flavors and they are in balance.
