Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Gerardo Seoane is satisfied with his team’s progress in the English week despite the late setback at the end.
“We are in a process and the road is long,” said the coach after the 3-3 draw in the Bundesliga at SC Freiburg. There his team gave up a 3-1 half-time lead. “I think the team has symbolically come closer together.”
Although his team conceded three goals, Borussia defended much better than in previous games, said Seoane. The 45-year-old Swiss is particularly happy with the reaction to the 3-1 defeat in the derby at 1. FC Köln. At home, Gladbach then defeated promoted team 1. “We had very good periods of possession in all three games. If you take these three games, the assessment is positive,” said Seoane. Sports director Nils Schmadkte also sees “a development in the team”, which remains in the middle of the table.
The injury-related substitution of Jordan Siebatcheu, who scored the first goal for Gladbach, is a cause for concern. “It’s a muscular problem. But whether it’s an injury or just a precautionary measure, I can’t say yet,” said Seoane. Further investigations should provide clarity.
