Watzke makes demands on Nmecha: Transfer flirt should not appear “missionary”.

Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke (64) has defended Borussia Dortmund’s interest in midfielder Felix Nmecha (22/VfL Wolfsburg).

“This is a normal boy, a normal young footballer,” said the BVB club boss of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. Nmecha is “not a guy who causes trouble within the group with his attitudes or his behavior”.

Some BVB fans are critical of Nmecha’s possible commitment because the international had shared posts on his Instagram profile that can be classified as homophobic and anti-queer. He later contradicted the relevant allegations in a longer post.

The “WAZ” and the “Ruhr Nachrichten” recently reported that Nmecha was able to dispel concerns about questionable attitudes towards homosexuals and trans people in a conversation with Watzke and BVB President Reinhold Lunow.

It was possible to make Nmecha clear that, despite his faith in the team and the club, he could not be “missionary”, Watzke told the “SZ”.

Nmecha could replace midfield strategist Jude Bellingham who has been sold to Real Madrid. He should cost around 25 to 30 million euros transfer fee.
