Rexists with water, sweat and the most intense emotions: thewaterproof eyeliner it is the great ally of every self-respecting make-up look. Perfect for the summer, it has become indispensable all year round because it guarantees long-lasting, smudge-free eye makeup. But how to choose the right one?

Best waterproof eyeliner: how to choose

There is no universal formula: the ideal product varies according to needs and experience.

As he explains Daniele BatellaGlobal Senior Make-Up Artist & Art Director Astra Make-Up: «The choice of the type of eyeliner depends on the result you want to obtain and the manual skill».

«The liquid eyeliner – continues the expert – is the most graphic: perfect for precise, thin and defined lines. The gel one, however, is more versatile, because it allows both clear lines and nuanced effects, and is also ideal for those who want to work on intensity.”

In particular, waterproof liquid eyeliner is among the most loved: it is perfect for creating precise queues and retro looks with thin but also thick lines. However, it requires a steady hand. “In general, the smoother the product, the more precision it requires», underlines Batella. It is therefore ideal for those who already have experience or want a defined and professional effect.

Waterproof gel eyeliner: the most versatile

Gel formulas (often in a jar or in the form of a pencil with a solid gel tip) instead represent a valid alternative for those looking for greater versatility.

Those in pot (or vase) can be applied with the angled brush and easily modulated according to the needs and shape of the eye. «The gel is more versatile – confirms Batella – because it is perfect for both clear lines and softer shades».

Best waterproof cream eyeliner to try

With its soft and easy-to-work texture, waterproof cream eyeliner is, however, ideal for those who prefer less structured makeup. «Cream textures can be heated and worked without too much precision: they lend themselves to less structured, more diffused and easy to modulate looks», confirms the Astra Meke-Up expert.

Waterproof eyeliner pencil: who it is for

The simplest and fastest solution, perfect even for beginners, is pencil eyeliner. It applies easily and allows you to obtain a more natural effectespecially if blended along the lash line.

This is a path now taken by many brands. Just think of the Colorgraph eyeliner by Valentine with ultra-pigmented gel lead. Or the 24 Hour Kajal Liner Waterproof by Bobbi Brown that lasts all day. However, among the most appreciated of all are the Satin Kajal Jewel Liners by Victoria Beckham Beauty with their sparkling, smooth and long-lasting lines.

Waterproof, brown or colored eyeliner?

Not just black. Brown eyeliner is a more sophisticated and delicate choice, ideal for daytime. «Brown is softer, warms the gaze and it looks more natural”, says Batella. This is why it is perfect on light eyes or bright skin tones.

Then there are the Waterproof colored eyeliners for those who love to dare. From blue to green, up to the boldest shades, they allow you to enhance the iris and create original looks perfect for summer festivals.

Waterproof bio eyeliner: increasingly in demand

Organic and green-oriented eyeliners, formulated with high percentages of ingredients, are increasingly popular clean and respectful of the most delicate eyes. Better if free of fragrances!

As Daniele Batella of Astra Make-Up confirms: «In case of sensitive eyes it is essential to choose delicate formulas, ophthalmologically tested and possibly without perfumes or overly aggressive ingredients».

How to remove waterproof eyeliner

Removal is as critical as application. Batella advises: «It is important that the product is easy to remove: a demake-up too aggressive is often the real cause of eye irritation, even more than the make-up itself.”

It is therefore better to opt for a two-phase or oily make-up remover, to be applied delicately without ever rubbing.
