In the last episode, we visit, among other things, the palliative department of Savonlinna Hospital. There, patients suffer from a fatal disease. You come to the ward when everything possible has been done elsewhere.
Nurse Ulla-Pia Parkkonen though points out in the series that they also do a lot.
– It is not true when they say that nothing can be done anymore. When they come to us, there is still a lot to do. We can make the rest of the time individual. We take into account each patient’s own wishes. We are present. We are not afraid of what comes from there, Parkkonen describes.
It is important to him that things are called by their right names.
– We talk about death, we don’t use roundabout expressions.
