Water polo players ZV De Zaan lost in the last seconds against Padova in the Euro Cup

In the fourth match of the Euro Cup, the water polo players of ZV De Zaan lost 10-9 to the Italian Padova. In an even match, things went sadly wrong in the final seconds for the team from Zaandam.

With a tie, the North Holland women were unable to score in the ultimate final phase. The Italian team did exactly that in the last attack of the match. “This is of course very sad. It was a very even match. Unfortunately, Padova comes out on top again,” was the comment of coach Mick van den Bree afterwards.

In group A of the Euro Cup, the other match was between the French Lille and the Greek Glyfadas. Lille managed to win that match 9-8. The standings in the group are now as follows:

1. Lille4-9
2. Padova4-9
3. ZV De Zaan4-6
4. Glyfadas4-0

The Euro Cup continues in March. On March 9, ZV De Zaan will play at home against Glyfadas and away against Lille on March 23. “If we win the last two games then we will be through, but we have made it difficult for ourselves,” said Van den Bree.

NH Sport was present at the ZV De Zaan match today. On Monday there will be a video report about the sisters Lieke and Bente Rogge (ZV De Zaan) and Maxine Schaap. The latter played for ZV De Zaan all her life, but since this season she has been playing for Padova.
