The Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 want to stop the title series from Waspo Hannover.
On Wednesday (7 p.m.) the Berliners will start the water polo finals with the Lower Saxony, who have won four of the six previous final duels, three of them in a row. “This should come to an end,” said 04 President Hagen Stamm.
This year, under coach Athanasios Kechagias, the Spandau team did not lose a point after the Bundesliga main round. However, the Berliners surprisingly lost their only national match of the season against Waspo in the cup final at the end of March (9:11).
Spandau’s managers have been warned about this, but according to manager Peter Röhle, see “more advantages for us if we exhaust our potential”.
Spandau has won 37 championship titles since 1979, most recently in 2019. Whoever celebrates three wins now is the champion of 2023.
