The walking tours along the remains of the Second World War in the vicinity of Havelte and Uffelte are canceled by Sports Coaching Norbert Baas and Brasserie Oer. Due to changing legislation and additional requirements, it is no longer possible for the organizers to organize these walking tours with a limited number of participants (250).

According to the organization, the conditions have become such that the same requirements are set as for an event request and that costs the organization too much time to organize it before May 1 this year.

The organization hopes that next year there will be opportunities to run the trips after three years, but because of the breeding season, it is looking whether another period offers more opportunities.

Endangered Birds

The first Sunday in May has always been deliberately chosen because of the association with the Second World War. “However, this is in the middle of the breeding season for several endangered birds, making it difficult to obtain permits given the responsibilities of the landowners,” the organization said. The possibility of continuing the tour in the future is being examined in collaboration with Natuurmonumenten.
