Ukraine asks for 38,000 million dollars in financial aid and Russia bombs Bakhmut

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, has asked the international community for financial help to cover the budget deficit of 38,000 million dollars that is expected due to the Russian invasion, while the fighting continues in Bakhmut (east).

In a video address to policymakers and experts gathered in Berlin on the sidelines of an international conference dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine, Zelensky urged the participants to “make a decision to fill the hole in the Ukrainian budget deficit” by 2023. .

“It is a very important sum of 38,000 million dollars […]they are the salaries of the teachers, of the doctors, they are social benefits, pensions,” he explained.
