War in Ukraine: Kate Bush publishes Christmas message

Kate Bush has one on her year-end website christmas message released. In it, she reflects on how “incredibly scary” life is even after the pandemic. “It’s a bombardment,” she wrote, “the terrible war in Ukraine, the famines, the droughts, the floods.”

Despite all the bad news this year, she believes in the good: “I keep thinking about hope and how it was the last to fly out of Pandora’s box.” For the coming year, she hopes that the Ukraine war will be over . She also hopes that nursing and medical staff will be appreciated more. That wasn’t always the case during the pandemic.

She also spoke about the renewed success of her song “Running Up That Hill”. Thanks to the Netflix series Stranger Things, the title made it back onto the charts worldwide in 2022, 37 years after it was first released. She thanked everyone who heard the song: “What an honor! It was really exciting to see things going so well around the world. It was a great feeling that so many of the younger generation are enjoying the song. It seems quite a lot of them thought I was a new artist!”.
