André van Duin has all the rights of his visual material, including the material that Ron Brandsteder is on. “And apparently money has to be paid for that,” says Tina Nijkamp.
The death of Ron Brandsteder has caused a lot of trouble. He was a popular face on Dutch television for years, but at the age of 74 his body stopped. Max recently broadcast a large TV primer with well-known friends and colleagues such as Joop van den Ende and of course his former TV buddy André van Duin.
Billionaire
When Dutch people die, there is often visual material in abundance, but they are always in the hands of a beneficiary, who can then ask for money for it. When it comes to Ron’s shows, most rights are at Banijay, the parent company of Endemolshine. And that is again due to founders John de Mol and Joop van den Ende.
How is that? TV authority Tina Nijkamp recently explained: “Joop van den Ende and John de Mol were so shown at the time to sell all program rights for often only five years (and then a channel was allowed to broadcast it a maximum of three times in that period). Partly because of that they have become a billionaire. “
Free provided
Banijay has chosen to provide all the images of Ron for free to programs that wanted to honor him, Tina now says in the podcast The Media Week: “I understand that Banijay – for I asked the parent company of Endemolshine – that has therefore provided for free, all those fragments. Very nice. ”
“They didn’t have to do that, because that is theirs, but out of respect for Ron they only have that for handling fairy done. But I understand – but that is a DM so I don’t know if it is true – that André van Duin also has a lot of rights about his own portraits and everything. ”
What did André do?
André has kept almost all his rights in -house, according to Tina. “I think that is smart and well done about him, by the way, because then he is in control of it himself.”
But what did Tina understand about the death of Ron? “Well, that apparently money has to be paid for that. Anyway, the invoices are not out yet, so perhaps he will give that to a good cause or that is not right at all, but I thought it was striking that André van Duin is also with every fragment … ”
Co-host Mark Koster adds: “What he is in with Ron Brandsteder, and those are quite a few fragments …”
Tina: “Yes, everywhere he is. He has all the rights of all his programs, so that is smartly negotiated from him. “
Business figure
Mark, MediaColumnist of De Telegraaf, finds that striking. “We don’t know André van Duin as a business figure at all.”
Tina thinks that is not so bad. “I think the money doesn’t matter much to him, but I think Joop van den Ende said to him:” André, you have to claim your own rights. ” They are fat friends too. ”
