Don’t know exactly what you want to do after school yet? Or do you want to experience something first that you will never forget? Then one Year of service in Defense maybe something for you! In one year you will earn a nice salary, grow as a person and contribute to something bigger: the safety of the Netherlands.
It Year of service in Defense is a program for young people aged 18 to 27. You participate for one year in one of the four branches of the armed forces: the Army, Air Force, Navy or Marechaussee. You receive basic military training and then really participate in practice. This is the way to get yourself out of your comfort zone.
What are you going to do?
During the Diet Year you work on yourself. The adventure begins with basic military training. You train your body, strengthen your discipline and learn to work together as a team. You learn to deal with setbacks and discover what you can achieve if you persevere.

Choose your part
After basic training, you enter the workforce at Defense. Whether you work in the Navy, Army, Air Force or Marechaussee: every day brings great experiences. You will learn about impressive weapon systems, work with the latest technology and be given responsibility for your choices.
Not attached to anything
The great thing about such a Dienjaar? You are not committed to anything after that. You can choose yourself: continue at Defense with the experience you have already gained, or do something else with a lot of new skills! If you continue with Defense, this year will in any case be a good start to your career.
