Wanda Nara was interviewed during the Argentine TV program Dante’s Divine Night. This was an opportunity to talk openly about diagnosis of leukemia which he received two years ago. “It’s leukemia and it’s under control. There are different levels of treatment and different situations. I changed my treatment”, confessed the 38-year-old showgirl, who then added that a doctor revealed to her what the possible causes of the pathology could be: “The doctor told me: ‘I can’t put it in writing, but it could be caused by stress, anguish‘”.
At the time of her diagnosis, Wanda Nara was not experiencing a peaceful period of her life, between gossip and family problems with her ex-husband Mauro Icardi. “It’s a disease that doesn’t usually affect people of my age. I’m healthy, I eat well, I’m unbearable”, said the Argentine showgirl, joking about it a bit, then adding: “Life has taught me that health comes first“.

During the interview, Wanda Nara also explained how her children took the news of the disease. With her first husband, the footballer Maxi López, she had three sons (Valentine in 2009, Constantine in 2010 and Benedicto in 2012), while from her marriage to Mauro Icardi she had in 2015 Francesca and in 2016 Isabella. “The older ones locked themselves in the bathroom and didn’t want to come out. I’m a mom who’s on the phone 24/7 because I’m constantly in touch and attentive to their every wish.”
Maxi López helped her a lot at that moment: “I think my relationship with Maxi settled down. When he was close to me in that very difficult moment for me, I understood that he was really there. He immediately took a plane when he found out and the first thing he did was come to the hospital where I was hospitalized.” Wanda Nara also confessed that she clung deeply to her faith: “I believe in God a lot. I prayed a lot for the children. When you are a mother, this is the only thing that matters to you.”

They were three very hard years in which I tried to protect my children… I wanted to hide everything from them. I lived badly in Türkiye, which was a distant country with a different culture. I had done everything to move there for us and I felt the responsibility. It was one enormous pressureand at that moment I wasn’t thinking about myself, I was thinking about the children, the club, everyone…”.
In reference to the decision to leave behind everything he had built with the Argentine striker, Wanda Nara added: “The decision to leaveof having taken away from my children the possibility of living like the family of Peppa Pig or the Simpsons, it was very difficult for me“.
