Walter Chiapponi becomes creative director

Walter Chiapponi takes on the role of Creative Director at Blumarine.

Chiapponi will present his first collection for the Italian brand during Milan Fashion Week in February 2024, Blumarine said Thursday. As creative director at Blumarine, he succeeds Nicola Brognano, whose departure was announced in mid-October.

The Milanese designer comes from the Italian fashion group Tod’s SpA, where he was head designer for the core brand. After studying at the European Institute of Design, he began his career in the late 90s. At that time he worked with the Italian fashion designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua. Other stops included Givenchy, Valentino, Gucci, Miu Miu and Bottega Veneta.

“I am confident that Walter Chiapponi, with his internationally recognized talent and fine stylistic sense, will bring new energy to Blumarine while honoring the brand’s exceptional heritage,” said Marco Marchi, Sole Director at Eccellenze Italiane, the holding company behind Blumarine. “I am proud to be writing a new and important chapter with Walter.”
