The Ennstal Alps in the heart of Austria are the birthplace of Waidzeit. Inspired by the mountains and the beauty of nature, the family business has dedicated itself to the design of unique and sustainable wooden watches. Glasses, jewelery and accessories for women and men made of wood, stone and Schladming Merino Loden can also be found in the brand’s range.
“With the Waidzeit offer, we want to make a clear commitment to our Styrian homeland and to the nature of the Ennstal mountains. And so you carry a piece of home out into the world with a Waidzeit product,” says the company on its website.
origins
The family business was founded in 2014 with the aim of creating authentic and sustainable design accessories that capture the alpine lifestyle. When manufacturing the collections, Waidzeit relies on the use of the highest quality natural materials such as loden, leather and local woods such as antique bog oak, stone pine and walnut to convey a closeness to nature and mindfulness.
evolution
Christoph, the head of the house, has a profound education in wood technology and is always breaking new, innovative ground with his designs. In addition to collections made from local woods, Waidzeit has expanded its range with the “Barrique” line, which gives old oak barrels a second life through upcycling. The wood from barrique barrels, in which wine or whiskey has matured in France for decades, is elaborately processed into unique watches, glasses and pieces of jewellery.
Current
With Waidzeit products, fans of unique design get their money’s worth and at the same time can contribute to a sustainable future. Today, the brand’s watches are available from more than 250 dealers in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and in various online shops as well as on the company’s website.
