Helmi-Leena Nummela returned to work when the baby was two months old

Actress Helmi-Leena Nummela returned to work shortly after giving birth. There was a good reason for that.

Actress Helmi-Leena Nummela got to challenge herself properly in Sykke’s 12th season filming. Acting in childbirth in particular has struck her mind.

– Acting after childbirth and the mentions that followed really went into emotions. The experience of coming into my own child’s life was so close, Nummela says in an interview with Iltalehti.

Nummela had just become a mother. The firstborn of Nummela and her partner Roope Salminen was born in April 2020. A little earlier, the corona pandemic had put Nummela’s work schedules in new faith.

– We filmed the Heartbeat and On the Edge of the Field series. When Korona started, both productions were interrupted. I had thought I’d shoot them both and finish one theater show and one song gig and stay on maternity leave.

Everyone moved on, but the baby naturally didn’t wait.

– Two productions had to be filmed when the child was two months old. I went back to finish them. Then I had a little break and in the fall I got back to work.

Tough and wonderful

Nummela is delighted that her employer immediately received the baby news well.

– When the baby was born, I was always involved in the work I had agreed. In a masquerade chair and baby tits. No one said anything cross-cutting.

– It was pretty harsh – wonderful. Biology sometimes took over. I feel in my body when it’s time to eat and the milk went up. The baby was in the next room. He was brought to the side and occasionally went to feed. I made descriptions and thought about the baby. It was a really special situation, Nummela describes.

Nummela says that she has always been a functional and social person. As a new mother, Nummela learned to calm down.

– I noticed that as soon as I got back to work, the hormones protected and helped me cope. When I started reducing night feeds after six months, the hormones also stopped protecting. However, I still did as many things. I realized that if I have a small child and work, I may not need to catch other things anymore. I focus on these two or else I can’t, Nummela says.

Emotional descriptions

Nummela will star in the 12th season of the Syke series, which starts on May 13th. Mikko Patrikainen

In the shootings of the 12th season of the heartbeat, the atmosphere was sometimes icy. This is how Nummela describes it. Nummela’s character Jannica started expecting a baby for Max (Antti Luusuaniemi), who was stepping on the altar of Johanna (Leena Pöystin).

– One of my favorite plot transports was when Johanna aka Leena Pöysti was really angry with my character. Those scenes were really rewarding to do when they had to work together and the room was full of sacred anger. After those scenes, I had to shake myself a little. Leena is such a good actress that she was awful to me, Nummela laughs.

Currently, Nummela’s tool calendar is filled with Sykke’s descriptions, which end this week. Nummela is also involved in a short project.

– I wish I could take a little vacation. Now I have a small snippet that it could succeed. I haven’t terribly planned anything, something small trips yes. Korona has done it by planning life a little less. On the other hand, it is also good to live in an instant, Nummela says.

Good scheduling makes Nummela and Salminen’s families with children run.

– It is good to schedule exactly in advance when both are responsible, Nummela suggests.
