According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, thousands of vehicles are affected by this serious security problem. Volkswagen owners, whose vehicles are affected by the recall, were urgently asked to switch off the passenger airbag immediately and no longer use the front passenger seat.

The recall affects a number of common VW models, including the VW Polo, Passat, Taigo, Id.7, Id.7 Tourer and Id.buzz. According to a report from “Auto Bild”, up to 16,510 vehicles are affected worldwide.
In the letter that affected vehicle owners have received, the risks are urgently warned, according to “Bild”: The passenger airbag could have a reduced protective effect. Even worse, if the airbag is triggered in an accident, the gas generator housing can burst or detach components, which can lead to considerable or fatal injuries.
