Volkswagen is calling its electric retro-tone bus in the United States. Buzz back in the USA because the back seat does not have sufficient seat belts according to US regulations.
At the end of last month, VW had stated that the seat in the third row of the ID. Buzz designed for two inmates and is therefore equipped with two seat belts. However, the US authorities believed that the back seat was wide enough for three people and that the vehicle violated the regulations on the size of the seat.
The German automobile manufacturer designed the ID. Buzz as a tribute to an icon of the hippie counterculture of the 1960s and hoped to ride the sale on a wave of nostalgia for a simpler time of automotor design.
The recall affects around 5,600 vehicles that were built between September last year and February 2025. Volkswagen claims to remedy the problem by installing a “solid, unmistaked cladding” in order to create less space in the back seat. Until then, the dealers were instructed, no ID. Buzz for sale where the back seat is equipped with two seat belts.
Regardless of this, Volkswagen gave a second recall for the ID. BUZZ known because the emergency brake display was yellow instead of red, which is mandatory in the USA. VW was made aware of the seating problem in February by a supplier who manufactured the part.
The manufacturer announced that he was not aware of any accidents or injuries in connection with the two recall actions.
In the aftercare on Tradegate, Volkswagen’s preferred share temporarily loses 0.2 percent compared to its Xetra closing to EUR 98.90.
