After long negotiations, the Flemish government has reached an agreement on the budget. Although coalition party CD&V had placed a particularly high bet on the growth package – the former child benefit – chairman Sammy Mahdi nevertheless agreed to an earlier proposal. However, that proposal does not link child benefits to the pivot index, something Mahdi had called the “red line” for his party on Monday. “That red line appears to be more of a dotted line,” responds VTM NIEUWS journalist Hannelore Simoens.
