The Schwerin volleyball players turned the night into day after winning the German championship. The big title joy was also a farewell party. Because nine players will leave the record champion.

“Now it beats 13!” – That was on the master shirts of the Schwerin volleyball players. For the 13th time, the Mecklenburg women won the German championship. The long wait after the last success in 2018 has come to an end. In the play-off final series, the Dresdner SC was conquered within a week in all three games (3: 0, 3: 0, 3: 2) and the championship shell then presented Anne Hölzig to SSC captain.

Dresden coach Waibl Adelt SSC captain Hölzig

“It still feels unreal now that the season is over and that we won the shell,” says the 27 -year -old foreign attacker. “It is the greatest success of my career because my share as a captain was larger than in the cup victory in 2023 and building on the championship all season. Until you get the title, it is a long and difficult way.”

“You are real ambassadors for our country – full of team spirit and power. We are incredibly proud of you.”
– Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig

With an abdominal injury, it could only be used to a very limited extent in the final games, but had a large part in winning the championship. Dresden coach Alexander Waibl praised Hölzig as the best player of the third final game: “With the substitution of Anne Hölzig, Schwerin got security in acceptance and pulled our tooth.”

Entry in the Golden Book of the City of Schwerin

Since then, the captain and her team, who celebrated the triumph extensively on Sunday night, have been pending many appointments. In addition to the visit to the NDR sports club, the Nordmagazin and in the Stefan Kuna show on NDR 1 Radio MV, the team entered the golden book of the city of Schwerin on Monday and was then received in the State Chancellery of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania President Manuela Schwesig (SPD). “You are real ambassadors for our country – full of team spirit and power. We are incredibly proud of you,” said the Prime Minister’s message.

Nine players leave Schwerin

Despite the winning of the championship and the renewed qualification for the Champions League, the SSC faces major challenges. The successful games in this European Cup season and the strong appearances in the Bundesliga in the past few months have not escaped clubs from other countries. Nine players will leave the master.

MVP Dambrink not to be kept

The departure of diagonal attacker Elles Dambrink is particularly painful. The 21-year-old was not only the outstanding player with 33 points in the last final game. The Dutchman has developed into a top player at SSC in the past two and a half years and was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the Bundesliga season on Saturday. In the coming season, Dambrink in Italy will be under contract with a more beneficial association.

The outstanding diagonal attacker Elles Dambrink changes to Italy.

Karla Antunovic and Nova Marring operated again on the knee are drawn to the Italian top league. The Spanish Libera Patricia Llabres Herrera was also not to be kept. The 29 -year -old international would like to spend more time with her partner in the future. The Americans Jaelyn Keene, Margaret Wolowicz, the Thai woman Pimpica Kokram and Marie Hänle are also adopted. In addition, the long -term injured fleur Savekoel will not receive a new contract with the SSC.

SSC will soon present newcomers

“We are prepared for this and will present our newcomers in the next few days and weeks in order to be able to play the titles in the coming season,” says SSC coach Felix Koslowski. Such a upheaval is nothing new for the record champion from Schwerin and in no way worry those responsible.

Rather, he was also part of philosophy. Talents and young players should be developed as far as possible before they are contracted at top clubs in Italy or Turkey, where the clubs have a significantly higher budget.

Koslowski enthusiastic about the development of the team

Before Koslowski himself will travel again as a coach of the Dutch national team, the 41-year-old enjoys the hustle and bustle and the successful end of the season. “After many injuries and setbacks, we never thought in December that in the end we could end the season as a master, but the team has developed great and has not lost a game since January. I am proud of my team!”

There are still many appointments for the team by Friday. After that, the players go their separate ways for a while. However, many national players will see each other again in the coming months and, as opponents in the field, face international matches in the Nations League and at the World Cup in Thailand at the end of August.
