VOC trainer De Haze: “There should be another team with experience on Saturday”

For the handball players of VOC, it’s now or never on Saturday. In the best-of-three series for the national championship, the team is 1-0 behind Venlo. “The experience must be better,” says trainer Rachel de Haze.

“In final matches you don’t have the time to come in and relax. Not that it is conscious, but that’s how it looked on Saturday. There must be another team with experience on Saturday,” says De Haze.

Slow first half

The resident of Landsmeer was disappointed with the poor first half on Saturday. “I am never disappointed in the girls, because I know that they are going for it. I am more disappointed in the result. The experience has to be better for Saturday,” says De Haze.

Return to Venlo

The return in Venlo is scheduled for Saturday. VOC can have a fit selection. The Amsterdam team has dominated women’s handball in recent years. Yet the season is not a failure if VOC loses on Saturday. “Of course you always want to win, but it is too simplistic to say that your season has failed. We have grown as a team and that is why we are in the final. Players have become better and that is the most important.”
