Vlahovic replacement found: Basel’s top scorer Cabral switches to AC Fiorentina

Among 10 most accurate shooters 2021

The striker carousel continues to turn: After Dusan Vlahovic left Juventus, AC Fiorentina presented his successor. Arthur Cabral comes from FC Basel and has signed a contract with Fiorentina with an undisclosed term. According to reports, the 23-year-old Brazilian, who was originally tied with the 20-time Swiss champions until 2023, will initially have to pay a fee of 14 million euros, which can increase by a further 2 million euros through bonuses. “La Viola” had previously received a total of 81.6 million euros for Vlahovic – the most expensive transfer so far this winter.

The AC Florence is relying on an accurate substitute, in whom VfL Wolfsburg is said to have recently shown interest. While Vlahovic scored a total of 41 goals in 56 games for club and national team in 2021, Cabral scored 39 goals in 51 games – but only for FC Basel. He has not yet been used for Brazil. This put both of them among the top ten scorers in the top 20 leagues in Europe.

But FC Basel not only loses its current top scorer, but also its most valuable professional. With a market value of 15 million euros, the right-footed player led the Super League ranking by a wide margin. In Florence, on the other hand, he ranks among the five most valuable. A potential replacement for Cabral at Basel could meanwhile be an acquaintance from the Bundesliga: According to the “view“The Swiss should deal with Jean-Philippe Mateta (24), who was loaned to Crystal Palace by Mainz 05. The Frenchman is set to come to Basel on loan. The English would have to commit him to the FSV beforehand.
