Vlaams Belang Kortrijk submits a deontological complaint and requests the release of images

The party again asks for the release of the images and wants to question the city council at the city council.

On August 14, a birthday party at Van Quickenborne’s home got out of hand. Three of his guests urinated on an (empty) police van parked nearby. Since the threats that the Minister of Justice received from the criminal environment, the Vlas police zone has been keeping an eye on things. The minister himself condemned the behavior of his guests and said he was not informed. But today the video footage would show that guests not only pee against the combi several times. Van Quickenborne himself can also be seen on the camera images. Not while urinating or when guests are urinating. He does lean back and pretends to pee, reports VRT.

Position as minister and acting mayor possibly untenable

“Based on various sources, it appears that Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open VLD) did not tell the whole story about the ‘combi cleaners’ at his home,” concludes Vlaams Belang in a press release. “If it turns out that Van Quickenborne has done more and knew more and therefore lied, then that will change the matter completely,” responds MP and Kortrijk party leader Wouter Vermeersch (Vlaams Belang). “His position as minister and acting mayor then becomes untenable. We are now immediately starting a deontological complaint and will question the city council at the city council next Monday.” Vlaams Belang Kortrijk also repeats the request to finally release the camera images.

Based on the further revelations, Vlaams Belang Kortrijk is now formulating a complaint against Van Quickenborne on the basis of the deontological code of the Kortrijk city council. “If the facts, as reported by the VRT, are correct, then several deontological rules have clearly been violated by Van Quickenborne. For us, that forms a sufficient basis for a complaint,” says Vermeersch. “If it turns out that Van Quickenborne has done more and knew more, then he has clearly lied and then he can no longer credibly function as a minister and titular mayor. Then he must take his responsibility and draw his political conclusions.”
