Dfter a difficult period, marked by health problems and a longer media silence than usual, Vittorio Sgarbi he’s back in front of the cameras. The art critic, writer and television personality among the most discussed on the Italian scene was a guest of Bruno Vespa in transmission Five minutesbroadcast on Rai1, to present his new book The closest sky. The mountain in art.

Vittorio Sgarbi’s return to TV

Sitting in front of the host, Sgarbi appeared lucid and determined, although he did not hide the tiredness of a complex period. There had been a lot of talk about his in recent months health conditions and the consequences of a strong depressive state which had forced him to slow down his public activity. «I am fine», he assured, with the decisive tone that has always distinguished him. A simple but meaningful phrase, which sounds like a claim for autonomy and personal strength.

The words about his daughter Evelina

During the interview, Vespa also addressed the delicate topic of relationship with his daughter Evelinawho recently asked for the appointment of a support administrator for the fatherclaiming that he was unable to fully manage his own affairs. A story that aroused outcry and curiosity, but which Sgarbi commented firmly. «I find Evelina’s request for a support administrator to be out of proportion and out of logic», he declared. Then he added a more personal and heartfelt reflection: «It seemed to me like a request that came from a desire to get attention that he hadn’t gotten beforeof finding a father that perhaps she hadn’t felt like she had. The idea that I had some disturbances or discomfort was, for her, a way of trying to highlight herself and make herself heard.” And he concludes, with a note of understanding but also distance: «I understand what he did, but I find it out of proportion and out of logic.”

A difficult dialogue, but not closed

Sgarbi’s words reveal a mixture of bitterness and tenderness: the conflict with his daughter, rather than anger, seems to awaken an emotional wound. The intellectual, who over time has built a provocative and over-the-top public image, at this juncture shows a more vulnerable and human side. The hope, between the lines, is that family dialogue can reopen, away from the spotlight, in a more private and authentic space. With his new book, The closest sky. The mountain in artSgarbi returns to his greatest passion: art as refuge, elevation and search for beauty. A theme that also resonates as a personal metaphor: after a dark period, the mountain can represent an internal climb, the desire to rediscover oneself by looking at the world from a higher point.
