Team Vitality and KOI prevailed in their duels at the start of the group phase in the League of Legends league LEC. But it’s not over for Team Heretics and SK Gaming.
“We all expected it to be 2-0,” said Matúš “Neon” Jakubčík in an interview after the game. “After the first game we slacked off a bit but we managed to come back.”
After the format change in the LEC, best-of-three will be played in the league for the first time in the group phase of the winter season. After a dominant opening win by Vitality, Heretics hit back in the second game. The decisive game was much more competitive, but in the end Vitality prevailed.
In the second match of the day, defending champions KOI started with a convincing performance against SK. The team from the Cologne organization fought back in the following game, but the deficit was already too big – KOI won the series 2-0.
While Vitality and KOI are already playing against each other for entry into the playoffs, Heretics and SK meet in a best-of-three for remaining in the group phase.
