“Violet” dried up – Erzgebirge Aue descends, football | 2nd Bundesliga – MDR – Regional

Two more goals in the closing stages

Aue looked stone dead and was only trying to avoid a downfall in the second half. Substitutes Jan Hochscheidt (300th second division game for Aue) and Clemens Fandrich should ensure calm with their routine. The plan gives up. Aue was much better in the game in terms of fighting and spiced up the underground duel rate of the first round. In the 65th minute, the consolation goal was in the air. After a buttery Hochscheidt input, Ben Zolinski headed just wide of the right post. However, the Auer could not prevent two more goals. Darmstadt combined fantastically in the 74th minute. Luca Pfeiffer put an exemplary cross on substitute Mathias Honsak, who pushed into the empty goal to make it 5-0. The final point was set by Tobias Kempe, an ex-Auer with a directly converted free kick to make it 6:0.

These players have already experienced relegation

With Martin Männel and Fandrich, there are still two Auers who played for Aue under Tomislav Stipic when they were last relegated in 2015. Hochscheidt (with Braunschweig), Gonther (with Paderborn), Philipp Riese (with Bielefeld), Tim Kips (with Magdeburg) and Florian Ballas have already been relegated. For Ballas it is even the third relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga. He had previously been relegated to Dynamo Dresden and FSV Frankfurt.

What the coaches said:

Torsten Lieberknecht (Darmstadt): “It was a three-pointer that completely broke the Auer. Then it’s important that we respect the opponent’s situation and don’t start any frills. It was outstanding that the team tried again in the second half “To stay clear. You know what emotions are currently on the other side and it’s important that the stadium stayed with us. We put a lot of energy on the pitch, which you could see. For me, this game was just one gauge.”

Pavel Dotchev (Aue): “We haven’t spoken to the team yet, the dressing room is small and the team is spread out. Everyone is busy with themselves. You can imagine how the atmosphere is here. We have in the game played like relegated – we don’t have to talk around it. It’s a fact now and the table doesn’t lie. Darmstadt played like a relegated team and we like a relegated team. It hurts and I have to apologize to our fans for this desolate performance. Against Bremen will play a different team. We have to move closer together and think about which players are still an issue for us.”

Pavel Dotchev (Aue coach): “It hurts”
