Violent robbery suspect Mark Gillis free

One of the suspects in the robbery of reality star Mark Gillis has been released. A spokesman for the court in Den Bosch informed the ANP when asked. It concerns a 53-year-old man from Tilburg. In November 2021, Gillis was brutally attacked by several men at his chalet at the Prinsenmeer holiday park in Ommel.

De Tilburger was the fourth suspect to be arrested in this case. His custody has now been lifted. “He was arrested on the basis of a DNA match on the shirt of Mark Gillis. That seems to be the only evidence against the suspect at the moment and the court finds that too thin for now to extend his pre-trial detention,” said the spokesperson.

Earlier, the police arrested two men from Den Bosch (22 and 39 years old) and a 42-year-old man from Rosmalen. The youngest of them was released at the end of last year. The other two are still stuck. The substantive hearing of the case is on August 28.

Tasered and robbed
Mark Gillis was brutally ambushed on the night of 6/7 November 2021 when he arrived at his chalet. Several men beat him up. Gillis was sprayed with liquid in the face and tasered, among other things. After being overpowered, he was robbed of a watch, two bracelets, a phone and sunglasses.
