For his research he is looking for people who speak Groningen to map out language changes. “A lot has changed in the past forty years. Fewer people speak Groningen. Regional and local differences disappear. Differences in pronunciation become smaller. How fast is that process going and what is the influence of Dutch and English?”, Buurke wants to know. “We look at changes over time.”
