Vincent Kompany has an unusual accompaniment when handing over the master shell. Bayern fans are confused.

The Bundesliga season ends for FC Bayern with a usual picture: master shell in the hands and cheers in the Allianz Arena. After the 2-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening, it was captain Manuel Neuer who accepted the trophy at 8:38 p.m. The keeper handed over to Thomas Müller, who was the first to stretch the shell up.

But not the sporting triumph, but a curious detail came to the fore that evening: when coach Vincent Kompany stepped onto the podium, he placed the figure of a colorful cockatus – visible and in the middle of the action. The campaign triggered significant laughter among the players. The team’s reactions seemed spontaneous, the background of the gesture initially remained unclear.

TV expert Lothar Matthäus put up that the bird was at the “Käfer”, a noble restaurant in Munich, where the team had been stolen from the duel between Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg (2: 2) last Sunday.

Sky reporter Michael Leopold took the opportunity and asked Jonas Urbig’s new replacement, who stole the bird. The goalkeeper said, “I was definitely not.” Team colleague Jamal Musiala also didn’t want to be lured: “I can’t say anything about that.”

Then the main actor Company stepped in front of the microphone, laughed when he was asked about the Kakadu and said: “I don’t say it. The story will surely come out at some point.” Matthäus intervened, found the story “beautiful” and confirmed: “I know the boss of the shop, he is a huge Bayern-Munich fan. Doing many business with Bayern, he will not be angry that this Kakadu was there today.” Company then assured: “We bring him back.”

The commentators in the stadium and television could also not provide any explanation. Sky commentator Wolff Fuss and expert Lothar Matthäus were as perplex as the spectators. Speculation immediately started on the Internet: “Wat does the Kakadu do there?” Asked a user on the X. wrote another: “I have so many questions.” And another joked: “Company puts a strange little parrot on the podium. Is this the beginning of our era of dark magic?”

For Kompany it is the first title as a Bundesliga coach-and therefore a successful debut. Harry Kane, who moved to Munich two years ago, also celebrates the first team title of his career with the championship.
