FC Bayern is a master. What was hardly reported a few years ago is another message. Trainer Vincent Kompany made it possible.

In the summer of 2024, some newspapers lost an overview. Was Vincent Kompany now the D, E or F solution? Ralf Rangnick, Oliver Glasner, Xabi Alonso, Roger Schmidt. The list of names that FC Bayern supposedly or officially canceled for the coaching office had had to do. Vincent Kompany didn’t care. His self -confidence remained unaffected.

That was good for FC Bayern. Kompany went down to business, brought a clear plan. His FC Bayern should stand for him and his story. “I grew up on the streets in Brussels, played on the street. I want my players to have courage that we are aggressive. I want us to play like this, which also makes my character,” he said at his imagination.

A year later, Vincent Kompany may feel confirmed. Bavaria plays the street football desired by coach and is already two game days before the end of the season German champions, albeit on the sofa (through the 2-2 of the pursuer Bayer Leverkusen at SC Freiburg). And Kompany is on the way to have an old monster awakened again.

The doubts about Kompany were understandable. Previously, the 39-year-old had only trained the RSC Anderlecht in the first Belgian league and FC Burnley from England. With Burnley, he was only marching from the championship into the Premier League, but then descended again without a sound. And then the German record champion? A brave step.

But the company, which is comparatively inexperienced as a trainer, quickly cleared the doubts, won the first six competitive games – and the support of the players. Thomas Müller liked the powerful and dominant football early on. “I think that fits our team well,” he said after the first round win in the DFB Cup against Ulm. Joshua Kimmich found last autumn in the BR program “Blickpunkt Sport”: “The coach’s game idea benefits me very much.”

The self -confidence of the players could also be seen on the square. FC Bayern regularly rolled over its opponents in the Bundesliga. 4: 0 against Stuttgart, 5: 0 in Bochum, 5: 0 against Hoffenheim, 6: 1 in Kiel, 5: 0 in Bremen, 4-0 against Frankfurt. So far, only two championship games have been lost. Bavaria scores the most goals (93, Leverkusen in second place 68), very few (32, Leverkusen has 37)))has by far most possession and plays out the most big opportunities.

It is gross again to play against Bayern. Last year, the Bundesliga teams-when Thomas Tuchel trained Bayern-were still looking forward to wiping one of the often uninspired record champions, the reality under Kompany is different. The opponents now have to run after the ball for 90 minutes. Bad memories of the Guardiola period become awake.

Bavaria is far from at the point of back then when away games in Munich were compared with a “dentist visit” (the quote comes from the former Bremen defender Sebastian Prödl). But the new master is on the way there. With the right transfers that fit the coach’s style of play, Bayern will have a good chance next year to win the triple from the DFB Cup, Champions League and Bundesliga.

How exciting the Bundesliga will be in the coming year, of course, also depends on whether the Leverkusen success duo Xabi Alonso and Florian Wirtz will remain. If both go, there is a change in the “Werkelf”, which should reduce the chances of a second championship after 23/24. If both stay, Bayern would probably get strong competition again. In any case, you will start the new season as a favorite. And that is the merit of Vincent Kompany.
