In the 2020/2021 season he was Belgium’s top scorer with 33 hits. He was also awarded the Golden Shoe that season, as the best footballer in the Belgian league.

With Southampton, Onuachu will fight against relegation. The club is last in the Premier League. Southampton reportedly pays Genk 18 million euros, an amount that can rise to 21 million thanks to bonuses. Onuachu signs a contract for 3.5 years.
