Vincent Janssen puts an end to his international career

After playing for the Orange for seven years, Vincent Janssen (28) from Heesch puts an end to his international career. He has indicated to national coach Ronald Koeman that for personal reasons and due to the increasingly full football calendar, he is no longer available for the Dutch national team. Janssen played 22 times for the Orange.

Janssen was still in the provisional selection for the European Championship qualifiers with France and Gibraltar later this month.

The attacker of Royal Antwerp FC made his debut in 2016 in the Orange squad’s exhibition match against France. Janssen came on in the 81st minute for Luuk de Jong, who announced earlier this month that he would also stop as an international.

In his time with the Orange, he scored seven times. He played most matches in 2016 and 2017, but in June 2022 he was brought back to the Orange by national coach Louis van Gaal.

The striker played his last minutes in the Dutch national team at the World Cup in Qatar. In the last group game against the host country, he came on in the 66th minute. At that moment the final score (2-0 for the Orange) had already been reached.
